You will develop the practical skills and knowledge set out in the National Occupational Standards, COSVR641, COSVR642 and COSVR643. This includes understanding how to spot hazards, work safely and use protective equipment correctly. You will build confidence in communicating with others, interpreting information and planning tasks so work is carried out smoothly and efficiently.
You will also learn how to choose the right tools and materials, and how to move, handle and store resources safely. Alongside this, you will explore how positive behaviour, teamwork and good site habits contribute to a safe and productive working environment.
By the end of the programme, you will have strengthened the core skills and knowledge expected of today’s construction workforce, supporting the standards seen across the industry following the Building Safety Act.
This certificate proves that individuals holding a CSCS Green Labourer card meet the competence standards now required by law under the Building Safety Act 2022 and Part 2A of the Building Regulations 2010.
It ensures that workers who have not yet achieved the industry’s mandated health and safety standards gain the essential skills and knowledge needed to work safely and responsibly. This includes understanding workplace health, safety and welfare, behaving appropriately on site, maintaining security, and communicating effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
The certificate also confirms that the holder is able to interpret information, plan tasks, work productively, and safely move, handle, and store materials.
Because the certificate is built on the skills and knowledge defined by the Sector Skills Council for Construction, and assessed in-line with their standards, it provides trusted, recognised evidence of competence. This not only supports legal compliance but also helps ensure safer, more efficient construction sites.
