Building Trust

At a time when most companies make their first impressions online, how does one differentiate oneself from the competition and instantly build trust with customers?

The obvious answer is to have a website. However, it’s not quite that simple.

Nowadays every company (if they have any sense!) has a website.

Without a high street presence, and even with one, it acts as your shop window. However, it’s what you do with that website that really matters: the content, the branding, the ease of navigation, mobile optimisation etc.

A study by Stanford University discovered that people quickly evaluate a site by visual design. And if they’re evaluating the site, then they’re quickly evaluating you as a company.

Customers are more likely to trust brands they think are reliable and a well-designed website speaks to the quality of your brand, boosts trust and credibility, and therefore reflects the quality of service you are likely to provide.

Some things to look out for:

To quote the great Oscar Wilde, ‘Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.’

A sloppy website speaks of a lazy company, lacking innovation. That may well reflect in the service it provides.
