Declaration of Compliance Service Ramps Up!

Back in January, we brought you news of our Declaration of Compliance service for the installation of fire dampers and smoke control dampers, giving installation companies the peace of mind that dampers have been installed to the correct standard and are therefore legally complaint.

Since that time, we have been inundated with requests to inspect and sign-off recently installed dampers, with three site visits in the last two weeks alone.  

We’re not always able to sign-off all dampers as legally compliant on the first inspection visit. However, our qualified inspectors provide actionable remedial work, on completion of which we are happy that all requirements of the Building Safety Act 2022 (item 35) and Part 2A of the Building Regulations have been successfully met.

Every damper inspected:

• Must be installed to manufacturer specifications and in-line with the BSEFSD National Occupational Standard
• Is measured against the BSEHV06 National Occupational Inspection Standard
• Must meet the fire safety information requirements of Regulation 38

Once all dampers have been signed off, every client receives a full damper inspection report, containing:

• Images of all dampers
• Wall detail
• Manufacturer installation requirements
• Corresponding drawings
• A post-installation checklist

Finaly, a Declaration of Compliance certificate is provided, which can be presented to the client / building control / principal contractor as evidence that the damper installations meet legal competency and compliance requirements.
