January 2025 will mark the ten-year anniversary of the Construction Leadership Council first announcing the withdrawal of grandfather rights/industry accreditation as a route to a CSCS card.

This timeline details the key milestones along the way, and how we now find ourselves in a position whereby individuals are scrambling to become qualified at the eleventh-hour.

With no ventilation apprenticeships, a plethora of short courses falling short of the legal competence requirements, and section 11I of the Building Regulations Part 2A now deeming many people to no longer be competent, how have we allowed industry to fail us so badly?
