What a start it’s been to 2024; it’s safe to say it’s been Paddeco’s busiest quarter ever!

It’s no coincidence that our recent influx of corporate candidates coincides with two major milestones:

1. The Building Regulations etc. (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2023*

The most significant piece of legislation for the built environment in over 50 years came into effect in April 2022, the Building Safety Act. Further legislation (the amended Building Regulations) was introduced in October 2023 that stipulated:

• Dutyholders must demonstrate the competence of their workforce (i.e. whole supply chain)
• Dutyholders must ensure clients are aware of their duties before beginning work
• Organisations must be able to demonstrate that individuals within their workforce are not working outside of their competence

2. Industry Accreditation Withdrawal

The Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) will be withdrawing Industry Accreditation/ Grandfather Rights as a route to a CSCS card from 31st December 2024, with no card renewals permitted from 30^th June, 2024.

Blue, gold or black CSCS SKILLcard holders can gain the appropriate cards by following one of these routes:

• An existing recognised qualification
• Gaining a relevant qualification for their occupation
• Possible additional training

With ALL Paddeco’s qualifications providing access to a CSCS SKILLcard, we have seen a record number of candidates signing up for our Level 2 & Level 3 Ductwork qualifications and, notably, for our Fire & Smoke Damper qualification.
